We were very busy at the craft shows in August and some of the newer items
sold within a few minutes of putting them on display. I only made one of each
because I’m still not entirely confident that you’ll like what I design just
because I do. Rest assured, I’ll be making a lot more of the slide necklaces
in different gemstones in both the double- and single-drop styles. Luckily,
when I went on one of my buying excursions, I had the foresight to buy every
strand of the spider vein turquoise tube beads that the vendor had –too bad
that it will only make about 10 necklaces and I’m greedily going to keep one
of them for myself!! Of course, the hematite is also very popular since it
goes with everything and that’s easy to find. I’ll also make the slides with
some of the other gemstones that I’ve been collecting. Watch for the slide
styles in gold fill and possibly vermeil (if I can find it) in the upcoming
months.
Demand continues for Thai Hill Tribe silver and shell heishi items but I
won’t be designing new shell pieces for now. I still have a few pieces left
and the elements needed to make them are still some available for anyone
lucky enough to be taking vacations to tropical locales.
In September, I’ll be focusing on using some of the heavier, more opaque
stones for the winter season to wear with the bulky sweaters and blazers.
You’ll see a sampling of these in this newsletter –especially look for the
Peruvian turquoise. You’ll also see more if you go to the website in a few
days.
Speaking of Peru, I also have some beautiful large carved pink opal beads
that I’m searching for just the right complements for. I took advantage of
the opportunity to buy it when I saw it, and, hopefully, I’ll be able to find
what I need and you’ll see something in September .
Special orders still take about a month. Right now, I’m finishing up the last
of the August orders and I still have some orders to fill that aren’t needed
until November. So, be the first to know, to keep up with the demands of the
Fall and Winter gift giving season, I won’t be taking any orders for out of
stock items after September 30. If you think you might want something, place
your order now –you know that you won’t be obligated to buy it since it will
probably be just the ticket for someone else.
Finally, I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention watches. There are new watch
styles that went on the website for September and I’ll be making new styles
using gemstones. This is one thing that I’ve learned, make at least 5 of them
while I have all the different pieces out because one of each style certainly
won’t be enough.
